The name Kainoa in the Hawaiian language has different meanings but the direct translation is "sea of freedom," which would derive from kai meaning "sea, sea water" and noa meaning "freedom,"
another meaning is "the namesake," which would derive from ka, which is a definite article, and inoa meaning "name(sake). "the freedom" or Namesake
"the freedom without restrictions"
"the sea with no restrictions"
Either way we know you will love it just as much as we do.
The meaning behind KAINOA
Sunny days, sandy shorelines and kids are a natural combination for easy family fun. Bringing up kids on the Northern Beaches of Sydney for me has been adventurous and entertaining to say the least. It was during these happy times that the Kainoa brand was born. Seeing the need for swimwear that is comfortable, provides good sun protection and keeps our little ones warm in cold water, while still looking attractive, was the motivation to start my new creative adventure.
I have always been a designer in the fashion industry. It has been a part of my life for a long time but creating something for children that encourages their curiosity for the ocean and water was revitalising.
Children need time to explore. They need to be brave and enjoy the outdoors. If they are too cold to swim, too sunburnt or uncomfortable because their swimmers are full of sand their time on the beach is limited and with it so is your peaceful parental moments of sanity.
At Kainoa we are here to help you. We would like to offer you an alternative to your young ones' swimwear choices.
Our wetsuits are made from a combination of high quality swim fabric and neoprene stitched together with flat elasticated self locking seams, preventing sand rashes, and they do not fray. The streamline panelling gives a cosy fit and the all-in-one summer suit design provides great sun protection. A bonus in the heat we experience here in Australia.
The front zip opening contributes to your little ones comfort so they do not feel too constricted and the 2mm thick neoprene front and back panels provide extra warmth in cooler waters. It's the best of both your traditional wetsuit and swimwear choice combined into one.
And just to add a cherry to the top of your cake we have designed our side panels with bright fun prints so your little ones can be spotted while adventuring amongst the sandy dunes and frolicking in the frothy waves.
It's simple yet sophisticated.
